Fat Loss Goals

Tuesday, June 24th, 2008

Have you been trying to lose fat recently, and found that no matter what you do, that you just can’t lose it? One of the main reasons why most people usually fail when it comes to losing fat, is because they haven’t set any real fat loss goals. Fat loss goals motivate us to continue when the times get rough so that we don’t give up. When people don’t set any goals then they are really moving with no direction, like a ship in the middle of the ocean without a compass. If you have success in losing fat, you will have to start setting some realistic fat loss goals as soon as possible.

For starters, make a long term goal for about 3 months. Where do see yourself in 3 months? How do you see yourself in 3 months? Visualize what your body will look like and make it as real as possible. Be specific, with how much you will weight, your limb sizes, chest sizes, belly size etc. Then write everything down with the EXACT measurements you want to be. This will ensure that everything is organized and you won’t lose track of your long term fat loss goal.

Next set weekly fat loss goals. How much weight do you want to lose weekly? What will your body fat percentage be after every week? Again, be specific. All these smaller goals should eventually add up to your bigger long term goal. Weekly goals are recommended because it will keep your perspective fresh throughout the fat loss program you are on. You will be fully engaged and motivated to continue as you see weekly progress.

After every week, reflect on your fat loss goals. Did you make any progress? How could have you done things better? How will you do things better the next week? You don’t have to spend a lot of time, but do at least change what is not working for you and constantly improve every week. Nothing should be rigid, and it’s possible there will be times when you may not see any results that week. Therefore you should be always revise things as you see fit, so that you can continually make progress and eventually reach your fat loss goals.

What’s Really Preventing Your Weight Loss Dreams?

Monday, June 16th, 2008

So, what’s the REAL reason that is preventing you from achieving your weight loss dreams? Look. I’m going to be very bold in this post. I’m going to be honest. If you can’t handle truth and honesty, then this might not be for you. But I’m going to reveal probably the single most important thing when it comes to weight loss. Not a lot of people talk about this. But I’m going to share it with you. And I think you know what it is, but just haven’t really reflected on it. Read on if you’re SERIOUS about your being.

Now, the biggest reason why you have failed is because of the way you perceive yourself. You feel that there is something LACKING. You lack being “fit”. You lack being “good enough”. You lack being “complete”. You get the point. In other words, you don’t accept yourself for who you are IN THIS MOMENT. And because you don’t accept yourself for who you are, and you feel some void or gap within yourself, you try and find ways to fill it in. You therefore feel a “need” and a “desperation” to go out and become “complete” by doing certain things. But you soon find out that no matter what you do, the void or gap is never filled. That’s because there’s isn’t one. You’re creating it for yourself, by your own beliefs about yourself. Your self-perceptions. You are ALREADY PERFECT! You are ALREADY WHOLE. In this moment, you are ALL THAT IS! And anyone who tells you otherwize, is probably stuck in the same trap.

Now this is probably THE MOST IMPORTANT issue in the whole weight loss ordeal. It starts with the SELF and How we look at our SELF. And if we don’t like our self, then we do whatever we can do, to like our self. Hence we try and eat properly, we try and work out or do cardio, we try and cover ourselves up in clothing to make ourselves look better than we think we are. This is what we do is it not? Because we feel a gap within, we try and cover it up by doing all these things. This is the REALITY. This is the basis for why most people do any type weight loss routines.

The problem with all this is that most people try and fill in the gap out of desperation and need. Most people need to do something so that they will feel good. But the trap is that they become dependent on external things such as their body or routine to feel happiness. If they lose their results, they will again “suffer”. They will again be unhappy and will again try and look to fill in the gap by doing something else. This is not just any trap. This is an endless, and eternal trap. This is why people are never happy with themselves no matter what they achieve. The GAP that you feel inside, is a false sense of SELF. Like I said earlier, you are already WHOLE AND COMPLETE. The gap is simply an illusion or false perception you hold about yourself.

So what do we do then if we feel this gap? We have to start with GRATITUTE and ACCEPTANCE in the NOW. We have to learn to appreciate who we are, and acknowledge that we are already complete beings. This may sound very strange to some. This is because they have been CONDITIONED. Conditioned by media, magazines, their religion, their parents, their friends, their wife or girlfriend, and so on. We have been falsely conditioned ever since we were children to believe that we were incomplete, or unwhole. We have been falsely conditioned to think that we are unworthy in the eyes of others unless they approve of us. The media makes us feel insignificant by showing us images of “perfect people”. They have created a FALSE REALITY for us that makes us feel less than we really are. This is simply NON-SENSE. We have become VICTIMS to this false reality and we are imprisoned within our own minds. And because of that imprisonment, we become trapped within a vicious cycle of finding endless things that will help fill in this false void of ours. We buy countless products out of desperation, we go on every type of diet imaginable, we try every type of exercise in the gym, we buy every type of clothing that will make us look slimmer or fitter. All this because we have a false IMAGE of ourself. This is WHY most people FAIL. Not only in losing weight, but even AFTER they have lost weight. Even those “PERFECT PEOPLE” in those magazines have this problem. They still don’t feel GOOD ENOUGH!

So if we just reflect a bit. Let’s just reflect NOW and see what’s REALLY going on. Ask yourself the question, “WHY do I want to lose weight?” Ask yourself, “Why do I feel the way that I do?” Ask yourself, “What will I get out of this?” The more we question our actions, the more WE will be in control. We don’t want to give ANYONE OR ANYTHING our power anymore! We HOLD that power in us. We are the creators of our reality. We are PERFECT BEINGS that are blessed with the ability to manifest what we desire. But it can’t come out of a sense of desperation or need. Because you will ALWAYS fail if you hold this within yourself. You have to start with the “END IN MIND”, as Stephen Covey mentions in his books. We have to start with, how we see ourselves. First start with appreciation and gratitude of your current self. See what things in your life you really APPRECIATE. Then ask yourself those questions above. Ask the WHY’S. Not the HOWS. We’ve been so conditioned to ask HOW we will do something. But we haven’t been conditioned to ask WHY we do something. So Start with the WHY. It is more important than the HOW. The HOW can be asked later.

When your perceptions of yourself change, and you see yourself as ALREADY perfect and don’t need to PROVE yourself to others or even yourself, then you do things out of LOVE and COMPASSION. Instead of saying things like, “I want to lose weight because I feel fat and people always criticize me”, you say things like, “I LOVE my body, and when I take care of my BODY, I feel all the cells in my body dance in harmony, and I feel overwhelmed with the joy it bring in my being. Also, when I eat healthy, my mind is clearer and I can go about my day by being more efficient and being more energized.” You see the SHIFT here? One is out of LACK, and the other is out of LOVE. Your perceptions about yourself, and how you see yourself NOW, is what matters most. If you want to lose weight, have a purpose for doing so, and see yourself as already have accomplished it. Feel the feelings of Joy NOW with the new body. And take that feeling with you wherever you go. When you see yourself ALREADY COMPLETE, your body will MANIFEST that reality. If there is a resistance to this, then you have to work with the resistance within yourself, and see why it is there. See why these thoughts and images and voices of resistance are coming up and face them. Interact with them. Ask these thoughts why they are coming up and why there is resistance and fear. This way you will get to the root of your problems. It’s not just a matter of WISHFUL THINKING, or POSITIVE THINKING. That’s the OLD paradigm. The NEW paradigm is FACING those negative self limiting thoughts and embracing them. It’s not about IGNORING them and replacing them simply with positive thoughts as most new age teachers teach. It’s about dealing with those parts of yourself which are self-limiting and prevent you from seeing your TRUE nature, that is ALREADY perfect in this moment. You will not only reach your goals sooner, you will have a sense of purpose in your life, and you won’t be controlled by external things in your life. You will EMPOWER yourself. You are in control…

Lose Weight Without Pills

Thursday, May 29th, 2008

Even if you goal is not to be a muscular person as seen in fitness magazines, the truth is that most people won’t ever reach that. The reason for this is because the majority of the people in those magazines are on steroids! It’s a fact! They are trying to promote products for companies which are ultimately trying to suck your hard earned money. How come they never give you the truth anyway? How come these magazine companies never reveal how to actually lose weight most efficiently and without supplements? It CAN be done without any supplement whatsoever, and you can lose weight without pills. Supplements are NOT required in order to become fit. These are all lies promoted by the supplement companies because of their greed! Is it no coincidence that the majority of people fail in trying to achieve their ideal bodies? Why is this? Why don’t these magazines confront these issues straight up, without the nonsense of always promoting something? Have you asked yourself these questions? 75% of those magazines are full of advertisements anyways, and serve us no purpose.

We want the bread and butter of a properly structured workout routine! Aren’t you fed up yet of being lied to by everyone, including your professors?? It’s time to start your life now! It’s time to excel in life and be the person you want. No more of being stuck in the rat race they are trying to put you in. It’s your choice if you want to break free from these chains and rise above all the hype out there. It’s time to truly take things to another level. We don’t want to fall victims to the growing amount of overweight people as reported by the media everyday. We have other things to worry about, such as building great relationships not only with ourselves, but also with our friends and families. We suffer and make others suffer around us because we truly aren’t happy with ourselves.

Meditation For Weight Loss - Part 2

Tuesday, May 27th, 2008

Now in order to meditate, find a comfortable place where you won’t be disturbed. Sit comfortably on the floor by crossing your legs and keeping your spine straight. You can also sit on a chair if that is more suitable for you. The key is to feel very comfortable while doing this process. Intertwine your fingers loosely on your lap and keep your head straight. Now close your eyes and keep your mouth closed. Take a few long and deep breaths through the nose to start slowing your heart rate and relaxing your body. Inhale slowly and then exhale slowly. Next, focus your attention on your inhale and exhale breaths from the nostrils. Don’t take very deep inhale and exhale breaths after your first few deep breaths. It should be normal and comfortable and fluent. Don’t breathe from your chest, but through your diaphragm and stomach. As you exhale, just feel the breath leaving your nostrils. Do the same for the inhale. Just concentrate on the movement of the breath as it flows in and out through the nostrils. If your mind starts wandering by either some form of mental imagery, or inner voice, and it starts to pull you in to those thoughts and sounds, slowly bring your attention back to the breath.

At first you will have a lots of thoughts and inner voice distractions, but overtime the mind will slowly start to calm down and become more calm and quiet. Don’t strain or try to hard when trying to do this process, but let it be gradual and just become aware that you are thinking and getting distracted, and slowly turn your attention back to the breath. Do this for as long as you feel comfortable. It can be 5 minutes, twice per day, or longer. There have been many studies done to show that meditation has it’s greatest effects after 20 minutes. So doing 20 minutes twice per day can have a tremendous effect on the mind and body. Also, doing meditation when you first wake up in the morning and before sleeping have also proven to be the best times to meditate. You shouldn’t also meditate right after you ate, but you should not be hungry either. So if you just ate, wait at least an hour before meditating.

Now after a few weeks of doing this, your mind will be a lot more sharper, clearer, quiet and calm. You won’t feel as agitated, and you will start to feel more gratitude for who you are as a person. You will be able to concentrate better and thus be more efficient and productive in all your daily activities. However, this is not the end. In the next part, I will cover specific weight loss manifestation techniques which will allow you to literally transform your body quickly. This is only the beginning, and meditation for weight loss will become easier for you the more you do it. When you learn to quiet the mind, you will be able to use these specific techniques I will show you that will help direct those thoughts into reality.

Meditation For Weight Loss - Part 1

Monday, May 26th, 2008

Beautiful Meditation SceneryHow do you see yourself? When you wake up in the morning and go to the washroom, does the reflection show you something you are comfortable seeing, or do you start to feel insignificant because of how you look? Do you feel as if you are over weight and that no matter what you do, it never seems to go away? Most people don’t feel comfortable with themselves, and it can cause them to have low self-confidence. However, one of the primary reasons why it is hard to see any changes in the physical body is because people constantly think negative thoughts about themselves, and constantly re-enforce that this is who they are day in and day out. The negative thoughts that we think about ourselves soon become subconscious and become a part of who we think we are. We have become conditioned to feel a certain way whenever we look at ourselves, and a lot of emotions start arising which further creates more negative thoughts. It is actually a constant cycle of emotions and thoughts that tend to rule us. Because of this, we shut down any room for growth within ourselves, and no matter what weight loss diet or exercise program we try, it will not work for us they way we want. Most of the time, no real changes occur and we are left miserable. This is why I believe meditation for weight loss is a very important practice that one should implement in their daily routine if they want to start seeing some real growth. This is probably one of the best kept secrets that not a lot of weight loss gurus will tell you about. Either because they don’t think it is that important, or because they just don’t know about it’s effect on weight loss.

What is meditation and how can it help me lose weight you may ask? Meditation is a state of awareness where you literally become one with the object of contemplation. Now let’s see what that means. First of all, when you first start to meditate, you will notice that your mind is constantly wandering. You may start to think about your next appointment, or what someone said to you the other day which hurt you, or what you will cook for dinner. Along with all the thought images in your mind which are constantly appearing, there is also this inner chat box which is constantly playing like a tape recorder. It just never shuts up. And most of the time, it is useless chatter which has absolutely nothing that will help you with growing as a person. They are usually thoughts and voices of limitations which keep you in your current state of affairs. They are thoughts about what has happened in the past, or what will happen in the future. Now how can anyone move forward in life, if they are constantly thinking about their past? This is EXACTLY what is holding you back.

Now you may be saying, “Oh, but my thoughts are important to me, they keep me company, and without them I will be bored”. Or you may say, “thoughts aren’t bad, they allow us to plan and without them we wouldn’t be able to do anything, and be immobilized”. Actually, you’re right. Thoughts aren’t bad at all. They are very useful and help us to direct our lives and also give us the ability to do things and take action. However, did you know that contemporary psychology says that 99% of the thoughts we think throughout the day are repetitive? And another thing is that most of those thoughts that we think are actually self-limiting and even self-destructive. Thoughts aren’t bad things, they are natural, but it’s negative thoughts, or repetitive negative thoughts that are useless. When we think about the past or the future and are creating realities within our minds that are destructive in nature either towards ourselves, or to others, then we are actually holding ourselves back from growing. This is why when we adopt a meditation practice, it helps us to calm the mind, start thinking more positively, and ultimately change our negative beliefs that we hold about ourselves and others. By meditating, we will be able to become our ideal selves, and be will be able to reach our true potential. When we no longer hold on to thoughts that don’t serve us, we will be able to reach our weight loss goals faster than we could ever imagine since the mind will direct the body and constantly fuel it with growth thoughts. We now know in the field of mind-body medicine, that the mind has a direct influence on how the body is shaped, and so when you get a hold of your mind, you can literally manifest your ideal body. As you think, so shall you become! This is not airy, fairy, imaginary stuff, but a science. Your thoughts are what structure your physical body, literally. Stay tuned for part 2!
